If you are living with Type 2 or even pre-diabetes (and PCOS!) and are like nearly half of those in the UK, you may be finding it difficult to get your sugars stable, or you feel awful on your medication or frightening complications are looming.
Every person with diabetes is unique. Everyone with type 2 will have different levels of residual insulin production left, perhaps different types of insulin resistance and most importantly a unique response to food. I have seen one person tuck into a salad with carrot and beetroot and have blissfully flat sugars up to two hours after and another sitting next to him have their sugars shoot up like they had just drunk a glass of glucose!
To feel well, really well, and to have a bright future with type 2 is possible, but you will need to find your own way into what works for you. I’m a naturopath, not a doctor, so I do not touch any of my clients medications, but naturopathy is about lifestyle and that is one area where we can transform your type 2.
And that does not mean I will give you a diet sheet. I don’t like them and I don’t use them. We will build a diet together, see if you like it, and see if it works for your blood sugars. We will talk long and hard about what you want, and what you can live with. You make all the decisions all the way.
Some of my clients want their sugars low, and they can live happily with the changes that they need to make for that to happen. They check their bloods and know how things are going. Some don’t want to live without some of the things that send their sugars up, so it is a matter of finding the right medication to help keep their sugars lower. And everybody needs to find a way to move their body that they like and can keep doing. Everyone with diabetes I have worked with is different and needs different solutions.
If want you are doing now isn’t working, try something different.
